Built in 1883, the City Hall, on the corner Elk Avenue & 2nd Street, was Crested Butte’s original municipal building & the first Fire House.
About The Crested Butte Fire & EMS Association & Volunteer Squad
The Crested Butte Fire & EMS Association & Volunteer Squad are made up of Volunteer Firefighters & EMTs as well as staff members who generously dedicate their time, efforts and expertise to the Crested Butte Fire Protection District (CBFPD). The Volunteer Squad is part of the Crested Butte Fire & EMS Association which is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization. As a Volunteer Squad/Association, we raise funds throughout the year for our Fallen Firefighter Fund which was established to assist members and/or their families in a time of injury or illness. The Association & Volunteer Squad also support other local charities and fund raising activities within our community and throughout the Gunnison Valley. One of our main goals is to provide for our members who dedicate not only their time but risk their lives for their neighbors and community in which they live.
The Crested Butte Fire & EMS Association & Volunteer Squad also facilitate cooperation between the CBFPD and its volunteers and promotes our dedicated members in the cause of safety, life and property preservation.
