The Crested Butte Fire & EMS Volunteer Squad volunteer their time and efforts to protect and serve their community

The main goal of the Crested Butte Fire & EMS Volunteer Squad and Association is to facilitate cooperation between the Crested Butte Fire Protection District (CBFPD), its volunteers, and the community in which we serve. Throughout the year volunteers raise funds for the organization and to promote our dedicated volunteers in the cause of safety, life and property preservation.

One of the main focuses of our Volunteer Squad has been to build its Fallen Firefighter Fund. This fund was established to assist volunteer members and/or their families in a time of injury or illness. Funds are also raised to fund continuing education, training materials, and safety equipment. The Volunteer Squad also supports other local charities and fund raising activities throughout our community and the entire Gunnison Valley.

** In Light of COVID-19

We currently have 58 members, 40 (or 70%) of which are completely volunteer. These volunteer members work for various business in the Crested Butte community to earn their livings; a majority of these businesses are now completely shut down.

These individuals have essentially seen a complete loss of income. Additionally, many of the employed members of the Crested Butte Fire Protection District must also work a second job to make ends meet and now those jobs have been shut down.

Our goal is to establish an appropriate level of earmarked funds, approximately $150,000, to allow for disbursements related to COVID-19 relief to our members, as well as additional community organizations related to our efforts.

Your donations are greatly appreciated by not only our members but others in our community who may be in need during this crisis.
